Translating firm goals into tangible results requires that employees not only comprehend the organization’s strategy, but also understand what actions are aligned with realizing that strategy. Conversely, solving problems require that managers and leaders have clarity right across the process, from prospect to cash, with employees across the value links. An important component of attaining and sustaining necessary alignment is clear “line of sight” (LOS). Increasingly, IT is seen as a critical enabler of clarity.
In 2009, our annual survey focused on how LOS in multinational companies is defined and achieved. What started as a programme targeted to help service teams understand how social media is changing service delivery processes has now been expanded to cover management reporting. You asked us to integrate some of our dashboard research and analysis to help you implement better measurement, and we will have this ready for the March 2012 council meeting.
